Iowa History Daily: On November 19, 1963, actress Terry Farrell was born in Cedar Rapids. Best known for her roles in the television shows “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and “Becker,” Farrell’s career includes many credits modeling, on tv, and in movies.
During her junior year of high school, Farrell submitted her image to the “Elite” modeling agency in New York City. Shortly thereafter, while still 16, she headed to New York and signed an exclusive contract with “Mademoiselle”. She went on to appear on the covers of the Italian and German editions of “Vogue”, and also appeared in numerous editorials for American “Vogue”.
Shortly after starting her modeling career, Farrell started studying acting. Her first major role came in the short-lived 1984 television series “Paper Dolls”, before she appeared in the feature film “Back to School” with Rodney Dangerfield. Other appearances on “The Cosby Show,” “Red Dwarf,” and “Quantum Leap” soon followed.
Offered a leading role in “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” Farrell starred as Jadzia Dax, the space station's Starfleet science officer. Farrell later co-starred in the television comedy series “Becker.” She played Regina "Reggie" Kostas, foil and love interest to Ted Danson's John Becker, for four years and 94 episodes. #IowaOTD #IowaHistoryDaily #IowaHistoryCalendar
